“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Mahatma Gandhi
These words lay the foundational philosophy that Medicine Without Cruelty stands by. As a society we have taken great strides in the field of science and technology with cutting-edge methods such as artificial intelligence, organoids, and organ-on-a-chip technology. However, the torturous and barbarous practice of animal testing has persisted despite its proven ineffectiveness and poor translation to providing human benefit. Moreover, schools, colleges and universities do not adequately show students a true picture of the animal testing landscape – a path dripping in pain, torture, and harrowing treatment of animals. And they do not adequately prepare them for a future in 21st Century science and technology.
Take my example, I spent years studying and training in the medical sciences only to realise I had become brainwashed into believing the misinformation spread by animal testers, many of them holding high positions within universities and other prestigious institutions. These animal testers are the “establishment” – long held institutions who insist upon barbaric animal practices which has never served the human species.
“There are always two parties, the party of the Past and the party of the Future: The Establishment and the Movement.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Emerson’s quote rang true when my eyes were opened to the lack of any patient benefit of using animals in science, it was time to start a new chapter which can benefit anyone looking to lead a kinder life where animals are treated as equals to humans.
And so, Medicine Without Cruelty aims to:
Stop animal testing immediately!
- We need to educate students on why animal testing is not necessary.
- There is strength in numbers, together we must legally end the use of animals in science through petitions and campaigns to raise awareness.
Use non-animal methods in science.
- We must educate students in non-animal methods (NAMs), and it should be part of the curriculum in schools, colleges, and universities.
- Funding must be reallocated away from animal testing and used to fund NAMs.
Rehabilitate the animals who have enduring suffering in the confines of a cage.
- Providing liberation and a happy home to animals that will otherwise face euthanasia after suffering brutal experimentation and inhumane confinement.
- Funding must be directed to rehabilitate these animals so they can live the rest of their lives full love, freedom, and kindness.
“It is only when we realise there is no place for animals in science will we start making real progress.” Savita Nutan

Mission
Medicine Without Cruelty is committed to ending animal testing in science and medicine. We strive to educate, advocate, and innovate, ensuring that scientific progress is achieved through humane and effective alternatives.
Vision
A world where medical advancements are driven by compassion and innovation—where no animal suffers for the sake of science, and ethical research methods lead to real human benefits.
Values
- Compassion – Recognising animals as sentient beings and ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.
- Innovation – Championing scientific progress through non-animal methods, driving a future where ethical research benefits both humans and animals.
- Education & Advocacy – Empowering individuals with knowledge and driving policy changes to eliminate animal testing and promote humane scientific advancements.
